Palworld v1.0.2 patch notes: what's fixed
On July 29 Pocketpair released Palworld v1.0.2 — the second small patch after the full launch. There is no new content in it: the update is all about stability, and mostly about co-op.
The headline fix is the Panthalus battle on dedicated servers: previously the whale fight could end in a client crash or, in the worst case, disconnect everyone in the session at once. Both cases are now covered by separate fixes. Pocketpair also repaired achievements that refused to unlock despite their requirements being met, added key rebinding for two actions, and reduced the load on the Sunreach sky islands.
Below is what this means in practice, followed by the complete v1.0.2 patch notes.
The short version
- Dedicated servers: the Panthalus battle no longer crashes the client or disconnects everyone at once.
- Achievements: “Predator Hunter” and the Pal Effigy achievement unlock properly again, and outdated Xbox icons have been replaced.
- Controls: “Attack that enemy!” and “Inventory” can now be rebound, and the middle mouse button is no longer treated as a conflict.
- Performance: the processing load during gameplay in Sunreach has been reduced.
- Small stuff: the screen no longer stays faded out in two missions, mining damage no longer shows as 0, and the fullscreen Japanese-input crash is gone.
What it means in practice
Panthalus no longer takes co-op down with it
Panthalus is a legendary water Pal, No. 203 in the Paldeck, with 200 defence and a temper to match — and on dedicated servers this fight was the loudest source of complaints. It could end in a client crash, or drop the entire session off the server at once. In v1.0.2 both bugs are fixed, by separate changes: the crash and the disconnect were two different problems. If you run your own server, update it as well — both lines in the patch notes are explicitly tied to dedicated servers. Weaknesses and stats of other tough opponents live in the Bosses section.
Achievements that refused to unlock
Two of the fixes deal with conditions the game counted incorrectly. The “Predator Hunter” achievement could stay locked even after its requirements were met, and the same happened with the achievement for collecting Pal Effigies. Separately, on Xbox the icons of two Lifmunk Effigy achievements were still using outdated art. Worth remembering that in 1.0 Pal Effigies became a full upgrade system — each one grants its own bonus, and their locations are plotted on the interactive map.
Controls: two new binds, three fixed conflicts
“Attack that enemy!” and “Inventory” finally support key rebinding. Pocketpair also cleared up false conflicts: when carrying settings over from builds older than v0.7, the game flagged even unrelated changes as control conflicts, and an action assigned to the middle mouse button simply refused to apply. The Inventory Shortcut option, which had gone missing from the Controls screen, is back as well.
Sunreach is easier on your hardware
The Sunreach sky islands are one of the most demanding zones added in 1.0, and v1.0.2 reduces the processing load while playing there. Pocketpair give no numbers, so you will have to judge the gain on your own rig — but this is the first performance fix since 1.0 launched: v1.0.1 had none at all.
And the small stuff that actually got in the way
The screen could stay faded out if you interrupted dialogue during a fade — it happened in the main mission “The First Islander” and the sub-mission “Captured Adventurer” (both are in the Missions section). Mining damage numbers sometimes showed up as 0. Certain face types rendered the eye area incorrectly in cutscenes. The Tower Boss “Victor & Shadowbeak” could vanish mid-fight after a teleportation attack. And the game crashed when you tried to type Japanese text in fullscreen mode.
