Palworld 1.0 — Official Release: What's New

Pal Tamers, the time has come. Today Palworld exits early access — welcome to Palworld 1.0!

Sunreach, a mysterious new island floating in the sky. The World Tree, the heart of the Palworld story. Palpagos has grown, and a new adventure awaits.

Version 1.0 adds 72 new Pals, bringing the total to an incredible 288. New ways to strengthen your Pals arrive through Awakening and Mutation, the stats and abilities of every Pal have been rebalanced, and there are large-scale overhauls to base building, multiplayer and graphics.

The journey that began in Early Access reaches its climax — and from here, a new Palworld begins.

New areas & world improvements

Sunreach

A new set of islands has appeared above Palpagos! Kept aloft by the power of Paldium, this land holds an environment unlike the surface and a unique civilization that has taken root over long years.

Sunreach introduces a wide range of new content: new Pals, tower bosses and ores that can only be mined with specialized equipment. Explore every corner of the sky and challenge the towers hidden above the clouds.

The World Tree

Why do the factions of the Palpagos Islands keep fighting over the towers? The island's mystery is finally revealed. The key to the story of Palworld is the World Tree towering over Palpagos — and it is here that you'll face your greatest challenge yet.

A revamped world

  • Ancient Ruins across the world — exploration and minigames reward you with valuables such as schematics.
  • Watchtowers: accessing one reveals the surrounding map and becomes a fast-travel point, making uncharted areas easier to explore.
  • 7 new small islands with three biomes (volcano, desert, ruins) — each with Pals you can only encounter there.
  • New settlements at the Bamboo Groves, the Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima and Sunreach — each with new NPCs and sub-missions.
  • Enemy bases have been added at sea — even more room for exploration and combat.

Wildlife Sanctuary overhaul

The Wildlife Sanctuaries, once small islands, have been reworked into protected conservation areas built by an ancient civilization to preserve nature. Each of the three sanctuaries has its own scenery, unique Pals, rare materials and powerful bosses.

Inside, defense drones patrol to eliminate intruders. Sneak past the searchlights or go in loud — the choice is yours.

Habitats & level cap

Pal placement and spawn levels have been reviewed across the world, so spawns feel more natural for each region. The player level cap has been raised from 65 to 80, with many new technologies tied to the ancient civilization.

In brief — other world improvements

  • Lifmunk Effigies are reworked into "Pal Effigies" — collect effigies of various Pals to boost the player's stats (effigies you already have are carried over).
  • Rebalanced chests, dungeon rewards and drops; dungeon layouts and lighting reworked.
  • Predators no longer sit at fixed spots — they now spawn at a low rate across the whole map.
  • Added auto-run: one button press keeps you running automatically, making long trips more comfortable.
  • New fast-travel points added; cleared towers now display in a different color.
  • Sealed Realms now look different depending on the strength of the boss inside.

Missions & story

The story of Palworld has been significantly reworked. Exploring Palpagos, fighting tower bosses and the path to the World Tree now connect more naturally. Sunreach, the World Tree, a colossal legendary Pal — the once-scattered goals of your adventure have been organized, so you progress while chasing the island's mysteries.

Story-driven chains of sub-missions have been added, along with new NPCs and Journals across the world — learn more about the world of Palworld through exploration.

To keep things fair after the reward changes, main and sub-mission progress has been reset. For tutorial and Tower-Boss-related missions, some will be auto-marked complete based on your Tower Boss defeat progress.

Pals

72 new Pals — 288 in total now

72 new Pals added

47 new Pals and 25 variants have been added — the Paldeck now holds 288 Pals in total. Meet still-unknown Pals by exploring Sunreach, the World Tree and other regions.

New mechanic: Awakening

Awakening lets you strengthen your Pals even further. In the depths of the World Tree, gather Radiant Gems and use them on your favorite Pals to awaken their hidden true power.

New mechanic: Mutation

When breeding, there's a low chance to produce a Pal stronger than the usual result. Pals from mutated eggs have higher stats and a unique passive skill. New cakes with special effects were also added:

Partner Skills reworked

New Partner Skills were added and the skills of over 200 Pals reworked — team compositions are more diverse than ever, and you can now build a team for any situation. A few examples of the changes:

  • Xenolord "Meteor Wing": previously just a flying mount; now, while in party, boosts the Partner-Skill damage of weapon-wielding Pals by 20%.
  • Kitsun "Wolf of the Sun": now, while in party, you and your Pals take 15% less Ice damage and are immune to Frozen.
  • Nox "Kuudere": instead of changing attack type, it now detects nearby Pal Effigies.
  • Petallia, Lyleen and similar Pals now heal as a percentage of max health rather than a fixed amount.

For almost all Pals, identical Partner-Skill effects no longer stack when you field several Pals of the same kind — this widens team-building without breaking balance. And combining skills now creates stronger synergies (builds for bows, ailments, elements, fishing and more).

New passive skills

Many new passive skills were added, some with entirely new effects. For example: Lightfooted (more jumps while riding), Reload Master and Ranch Master (+2 ranch work suitability).

A new category also arrived — World Tree passives: incredibly powerful, but with a cost. For example: Twin-Edged Holy Blade (+50% Attack, but lower defense), Dimensional Leap (+50% movement, but hunger drains faster), Demon's Hand (+90% work speed, but SAN drops faster).

Motions, riding & work suitability

  • Over 100 new motions: swimming, sleeping beside you, idles and more; all 47 new Pals have their own unique animations.
  • Riding controls improved: shooting, dashing, weapon switching, cornering and camera; a Pal's skill can be cancelled mid-ride with a jump + direction.
  • Work Suitability expanded to 10 levels and rebalanced for every Pal; each rank-up now raises one of a Pal's suitability levels — investing in your favorites is far more worthwhile.

Easier capture & condensation

The captures needed for a Capture Bonus dropped from 12 to 5 — you reach new regions and find new Pals faster. And max-rank Condensation now needs 48 Pals instead of 116, making training much easier. Estimate your catch chance up front in the capture calculator.

In brief — other Pal changes

  • Active-skill inheritance in breeding changed — now picked randomly from the parents' three skill slots.
  • Greatly reduced the cost of resetting a Pal's Soul enhancements.
  • Halved egg incubation time in newly created Normal and Hard worlds.
  • Base and party Pals no longer lose SAN when taking damage.
  • Lovander is now a Dark type; Jetragon's max stamina increased.

Combat

Combat

Player motions were reworked for responsiveness and control. The dodge during attacking or aiming is now a dash (easier to close distance or reposition while keeping your aim), attacks can be performed while dashing, and reloading no longer stops when you dodge.

The power, behavior and cooldowns of nearly all active skills were reworked — many more are now viable. Holy Burst no longer over-damages large enemies (hit count capped), and top-tier skills of other elements were brought up to its level. After a full damage rebalance, party Pals can now deal as much damage as the player.

Many new active skills were added — for new and many existing Pals alike. Fuddler now burrows and bursts out from beneath enemies, and Starryon gained a charge attack.

The reworked Tower Bosses
The reworked Tower Bosses

Tower Bosses & Arena

Each Tower Boss now has a redesigned tower with a unique look, and some bosses gained new motions and skills. For pacing, the time limit dropped from 10 to 5 minutes (boss stats adjusted). Arena matches were shortened from 5 to 2 minutes, and a new Arena rank was added. See details in the bosses section.

In brief — other combat changes

  • New Pal command: aim at an enemy and press the mouse wheel (or right stick) — "Attack that enemy!".
  • Wild Pals fight smarter: dogs bite, horses do repeated charges, fast Pals step back after attacking.
  • Armor durability formula reworked so it breaks less often; some large Pals gained Heavyweight (no knockback).
  • Arrow type (fire/poison) can now be switched on compatible weapons; dedicated arrow weapons were removed from the tech tree.
  • Crime system reworked: higher wanted levels bring stronger pursuers, and you can clear it by staying hidden for a while.

New equipment & items

New equipment & items

Wing Pack & Plasma Multicutter

The Wing Pack is a new type of glider: it consumes Wing Cells for free flight without a Pal, greatly expanding exploration, combat and base movement. The Plasma Multicutter is a new gathering tool: it harvests ore and wood, and works even while riding.

13 new weapons & +6 slots

13 new weapons were added — from a Primitive Sword and Metal Bat for the early and mid game to high-tech gear made from Soralite Ingots: Mechanical Bow, Combat SMG, Prototype Shotgun, Heavy Assault Rifle, Tactical Grenade Launcher, Laser Sword, Beam Scatter, Drone Launcher (up to 9 at once), Plasma Rifle (chains between enemies) and Beam Launcher. Craft an Extra Weapon Holster to carry up to 6 weapons.

Armor, accessories & implants

  • Ancient Series armor (helm, armor, shield), plus boss-look headgear as rewards.
  • 44 new accessories — e.g. the Command Baton (boosts party Pals) and the Air Walker (more freedom of movement); some combine several effects.
  • Disposable Implants at the operating table: consumed on use, but grant more powerful passive skills.

New resources

  • Soralite (mined only in Sunreach) and Paloxite (only at the World Tree) — rare ores for new crafting and building.
  • Ancient Civilization Relic — converted at a special device into items useful for crafting and enhancement; obtained only at the World Tree.
  • Nutrient — a new consumable: while active, hunger doesn't decrease for a Pal or the player.
  • Two new higher-tier Pal Spheres were added.

Base & building

Base & building

By popular demand, new building parts were added — including long-awaited water building: an Aquatic Construction Kit lets you build along shorelines and at sea. There's also faux greenery (easy to green up a base), new slanted roofs for every material, lots of furniture and ancient-civilization-style parts.

  • Work Pals behave better at returning to work, hauling and storing; by transport suitability they gather same-type items from a wider area.
  • The crafting UI gained category filters and name search; craftable items are listed first.
  • New buildings: the Ancient Material Synthesizer (produces ore and other materials) and the High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor (extracts oil without an oil field).
  • New clinics (Clinic and Ancient Clinic) reduce SAN loss and suppress illness among base Pals.
  • The Repair Kit is no longer required — Pals with Handiwork repair structures without items.
  • Within base range you can fast travel straight from the map — between bases and to statues, without using the Palbox.

Raids & base defense

The base raid system was significantly overhauled into a wave-based system: enemies attack in successive waves, and clearing all waves rewards you. Defense structures and Work Pal placement now matter more than ever — base defense became an engaging feature rather than just surviving an attack.

  • The attackers depend on the region (e.g. the Free Pal Alliance raids Crescent Moon Shore, the Eternal Pyre Faction raids Mount Obsidian).
  • Defense structures no longer consume ammo.
  • The raiders' level auto-scales to the level of Work Pals at the base.
  • A Negotiator now visits: pay gold to prevent an upcoming raid — fight or buy your way out, your call.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer
  • In-game voice chat — available when enabled in a dedicated server's world settings (not supported on WinGDK).
  • Improved guilds: multiple roles with configurable permissions, member login/logout notifications, guild markers and stronger shared-base security.
  • Improved in-game chat: system messages, anti-impersonation, and scrollback of up to 200 lines.
  • Improved server joining: password/address saving and more reliable saving (lower risk of save corruption).
  • Optional Discord account linking — easier to invite friends (Steam and Mac versions only).

Balance overhaul

  • Experience: XP tables reworked — low-level Pals level up much faster, so Pals caught late are now worth training (saves migrate automatically; player levels aren't reduced).
  • Capture: the catch-rate formula was adjusted — Pals are easier to catch.
  • Gold: chests drop roughly 2–4× more gold; trade prices reviewed.
  • Accessories: now crafted from schematics (rare drops from chests, ruins, large rigs); the +1/+2 system is gone and base +0 was buffed to the old +2.
  • Crafting & gear: material costs for recipes, weapons, armor, ammo and saddles rebalanced to match progression.
  • Shops, rewards, expeditions: lineups and prices reviewed; Sunreach and the World Tree added as expedition destinations.
  • Difficulty: enemy/boss placement tuned to intended difficulty; high-end content re-tuned for the level-80 cap.
  • Systems: the Research Lab, Medal Merchant, tech tree and breeding combos were rebalanced.
  • Fishing: new high-difficulty spots at Sunreach and the World Tree; bait now comes from raids, chests, salvage and merchants.
  • Quality of life: a Pal Sphere needs just 1 Paldium Fragment; the Ultimate Sphere needs 5 Pal Metal Ingots instead of 10; you can jump while overburdened up to 1.25× weight.

UI, graphics & sound

  • UI: Pal Box search and Expedition-Power sort, crafting filters/search, Paldeck filters; Pal stats now show Soul/Awakening bonuses and status icons appear on the HP bar.
  • Map: smoother zoom and icon selection, a shareable Guild Marker, base hover info, raid marks and special marks for bosses below cliffs or in caves.
  • Character creation: 8 new hairstyles, 5 face types, 13 hair accessories and a refined default face.
  • General: a new title and loading screen with Tips, ultrawide support, a Palbox "Retrieve All" button; "Respawn" renamed to "Emergency Escape" (never drops items).
  • Graphics: a major visual brush-up — water, coastlines, lighting and environments reworked for atmosphere; grass/tree draw distance and shadows tuned.
  • Sound: more battle music, reworked SFX logic (volume, distance falloff, looping), lots of new sounds and expanded settings (separate sliders for player and NPC voice).

Optimization, fixes & mods

  • Optimization: improved dedicated servers with many players, equipment and open-world processing (grass, trees, resources), memory and data search; fewer momentary stutters.
  • Fixes: resolved freezes, infinite loads and crashes around login, warping, death and boss battles; fixed multiplayer desyncs, terrain clipping and many minor bugs across all platforms.
  • Mods: mods can cause crashes and save corruption. If problems occur, disable all mods and Steam Workshop, and back up saves before using them (see the official mod guideline for details).

After more than two years in early access, Palworld has reached its official release. To all the Pal Tamers who have played so far — thank you. To enjoy the new experience fully, Pocketpair recommends starting fresh with a new character, though you can also continue on your existing save.
