How to Catch Legendary Pals in Palworld: Jetragon, Frostallion, Necromus & Paladius

Updated: 2026-07-14

How to catch a legendary Pal — the short answer

Legendary Pals in Palworld are field bosses: you can't lure them, you have to beat them down and throw a sphere mid-fight. The routine is the same for all of them — travel to the spawn point, bring a Pal whose element counters the boss, knock its health into the red, stack status effects, then throw your strongest spheres, Legendary Spheres or better.

The headline legendaries — Jetragon (level 70), Frostallion, Necromus and Paladius (level 60) — sit around level 60–70 and respawn after you beat them, so you get unlimited attempts. The night-only Frostallion Noct is a touch higher at level 65. Update 1.0 added the new final boss Astralym plus the legendaries of the sky islands and the World Tree — the dragons Shaolong and Ophydia and the whale Panthalus. Below: where to find each legendary Pal, what to hit it with, and how to push your catch odds.

Where to find the legendary Pals

Jetragon (Dragon) lives in the volcanic region on the west side of the map, around Mount Obsidian. Frostallion (Ice) roams the snowy northwest near the Land of Absolute Zero. Blazamut (Fire) hides in a mineshaft dungeon in the southwest, while the dragon Xenogard shows up on Feybreak Island.

Paladius and Necromus share a single spot in the far northern desert but appear at different times — Paladius by day, Necromus at night. The dark Frostallion Noct is also a night spawn. Exact coordinates and a "show on map" button are on each Pal's page, or open the boss map to see every point. The new 1.0 legendaries — Shaolong, Ophydia, Panthalus and the final boss Astralym — live in the new regions: the Sunreach sky islands and around the World Tree.

Elemental counters: what to fight them with

Legendaries hit hard, so bring a Pal whose element the boss is weak to. Dragons Jetragon and Xenogard fear Ice; the icy Frostallion melts to Fire; the dark Necromus and Shadowbeak fall to Dragon; neutral Paladius takes extra from Dark (Necromus or Frostallion Noct do the job); and fiery Blazamut drowns to Water. Don't send a Dragon against Jetragon, though — it'll take bonus damage in return.

The full strengths-and-weaknesses chart is on the elements page, and you can pick the right fighter fast from the combat tier list.

Spheres and gear for the catch

Your catch chance comes down to two things: the target's remaining HP and the quality of your sphere. The Legendary Sphere is the best normal craft; the Ultra Sphere and Giga Sphere are a step down and handy for testing a boss without burning your rare ones. In the Feybreak era you also unlock the stronger Ultimate Sphere and Exotic Sphere, and version 1.0 adds the strongest of all — the Sol Sphere and Ancient Sphere — save those for the final throws.

Your global catch multiplier goes up with Lifmunk Effigies: collect them across the world and hand them in at the Statue of Power. Estimate your odds before the trip in the capture calculator, and wear armor that resists the boss's element — heat for Jetragon and Blazamut, cold for Frostallion.

Fight tactics: weaken, don't kill

Don't overdo the damage: drop the HP bar to zero and the Pal dies instead of getting caught, so aim for the red-orange zone. Status effects — freeze, burn, paralysis — pin the boss so you can throw calmly, and a sphere thrown at its back while it hasn't noticed you adds a catch bonus.

Keep a fast mount handy to dodge attacks and pack plenty of healing. Missed the catch? No problem — bosses respawn, so you can try again. And remember that some "legendary" Pals are easier to breed than to catch: many players simply get Anubis through breeding.
