Oil and Oil Rigs in Palworld: where to get Crude Oil and how to clear the raid

Palworld has two different "oils", and they're easy to mix up. High Quality Pal Oil drops from many pals — the easiest is the sleepy Dumud (100% drop) — and feeds your gear. Crude Oil is pumped separately: with a base building, looted from Oil Rigs at sea, and dropped by certain Dark and Ground pals.

The rule is simple: need oil for weapons and armor — farm Dumud and craft Polymer. Need Crude Oil for Plasteel, ammo and grenades — build a Crude Oil Extractor at home or raid the Feybreak platform (around level 60).

The fastest oil source is Dumud: it sleeps on beaches, is trivial to catch, and drops High Quality Pal Oil at 100%. Its gold variant, Dumud Gild, works too. Keep 3–4 Dumud in your party and sweep the coastline.

Big battle pals also hand over a lot of oil (all 100% drops): Mammorest, Relaxaurus, Grintale, Woolipop and Jormuntide Ignis. Farm them while you level — the combat tier list helps you pick fighters.

Polymer is crafted from 2× High Quality Pal Oil at the Production Assembly Line. It's a core late-game material: advanced saddles (Grizzbolt's minigun, Mossanda's grenade launcher), strong firearms and high-tier armor.

Raw oil is also consumed directly — for handguns and muskets, recovery meds and stat elixirs, fishing rods and bait. Stock a chest with oil early, because the endgame burns through it fast. Check the tech tree for what to unlock.

The easiest way to farm Crude Oil is at home: build a Crude Oil Extractor on an oil field. It runs on electricity and pumps oil automatically — you just need a generator and electric pals, no dedicated "extractor" pal. Don't confuse this building with the Oil Rigs out at sea — they're different things.

Crude Oil also drops (about 50%) from some Dark and Ground pals: Maraith, Kikit, Smokie, Sootseer and Menasting Terra. It's refined into Plasteel, Flamethrower Fuel, Missile Ammo and Frag Grenade Mk2.

There are three Oil Rigs in the world, all pinned on our map. The Barge is the easiest, guards around level 25, sitting in a lake north of the Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings. The mid Oil Rig is about level 55, southeast of Marsh Island. And the top-tier Rayne Syndicate Platform (Feybreak) is around level 60, in the ocean west of Feybreak island.

Defenses ramp up from rig to rig: the Barge has only gun turrets, the mid rig adds anti-air laser turrets, and the Feybreak platform also brings anti-air rocket platforms. All turrets and AA respawn after the rig resets.

The Feybreak platform has around 22 chests, but the main one is locked behind a boss — the Attack Chopper. Clear the guards first, then down the chopper: only then does the large chest open.

The payout is worth it: Legendary weapon schematics (Plasma Cannon, Laser Gatling Gun, Advanced Bow, Semi-Auto Rifle), lots of Crude Oil, Ancient Civilization Cores and stat Lotuses; small chests give Training Manuals, coins and rare schematics.

Strategy: come around level 60 with firearms and strong fighters. Approach the mid rig and Feybreak by swimming or on a Water pal to slip past the laser turrets; for the Barge, flying is safer. Always carry a quick-escape item. Build your squad with the planner and the bosses section.
