Leather, Wool, and Cloth in Palworld: Where to Get Them
Updated: 2026-07-07
Quick answer: where to get leather, wool, and cloth
Wool drops from the sheep-like Pals — Lamball, Cremis and Melpaca: beat them in the wild, or better, put them on a Ranch so they produce Wool on their own. Leather is a drop from combat and beast-type Pals — nearly every animal Pal drops Leather at a 100% rate. Cloth can't be found anywhere — you craft it from 2 Wool at a Primitive Workbench.
The chain is simple: wool becomes cloth, while leather goes straight into your gear.
Wool: ranch and drops
How do you get wool in Palworld? Three Pals give it: Lamball, Cremis and Melpaca. All three drop wool at 100% when you defeat or capture them in the wild, and Lamballs literally graze on the starter meadows near the first tower.
But automating it is far better. The Ranch unlocks at level 5; drop any wool Pal onto it and it will churn out wool while you focus on other things. Melpaca also drops leather, which makes it the most versatile ranch resident.
Leather: which Pals drop it
Leather drops from most beast Pals whether you capture or defeat them — the chance is almost always 100%, only the amount varies. Mammorest gives the most: 5–10 per kill. Mossanda and Eikthyrdeer are solid farms too, at 2–3 each.
Early on, before you can take down a mammoth, grind leather off weak critters: Foxparks, Rushoar, Vixy and Direhowl all live near the starting area and drop 1–2 leather each. Tip: catch Pals in spheres instead of killing them — you still get the drops, and you keep the Pal.
Cloth: crafted from wool
Cloth can't be found or dropped by Pals — you make it by hand. The recipe is 2 Wool for 1 Cloth at a Primitive Workbench, and it unlocks in the Technology tree at level 3, so cloth is available almost right after you land.
Later you will also want High Quality Cloth, which costs 10 wool each — by then a ranch full of Melpacas and Lamballs becomes essential.
What it's for: armor and gear
These three materials are the backbone of your early gear. Besides cloth, wool makes a warm helmet and the Melpaca Saddle. Cloth goes into the Cloth Outfit and its heat and cold variants (Tropical and Tundra Outfit), and later into metal armor and headwear.
Leather is the single most-used material — it goes into almost every armor set (from Pelt Armor to Refined Metal Armor) and many mount saddles. Keep a steady stock of leather and cloth around: your whole defense progression depends on them. You can browse every recipe in the item catalog.
