How to Breed Pals in Palworld: Cake, Breeding Farm and Passives

Breeding unlocks at level 19 together with the Breeding Farm. Build it, drop a male and a female Pal inside, and put a Cake in its feed box. After a while the pair lays an egg — pick it up and place it in an Egg Incubator to hatch the baby.

Which Pal hatches depends on the parents. Some pairs give a fixed species (unique combos); the rest follow the average "breeding rank". Don't guess — our breeding calculator shows both the result of a pair and the reverse path: how to get the Pal you want.

The Breeding Farm holds exactly two Pals, and they must be of opposite sex. You assign them straight from your Palbox — no need to catch duplicates. As long as there's Cake in the feed box the pair keeps laying eggs; run out of food and breeding stops.

An egg won't hatch on its own — place it in an Egg Incubator (unlocked as early as level 7). Hatching speed depends on temperature: keep the incubator comfortable (a campfire for warm eggs, cooling for icy ones) and the timer runs faster. Larger incubators that hold several eggs at once come later.

Cake is the only food a Breeding Farm accepts, so you'll want to bake it in bulk. The Cake recipe unlocks at level 17 and is cooked in a Cooking Pot. You'll need Flour ×5, Red Berries ×8, Milk ×7, Egg ×8 and Honey ×2.

One Cake is roughly one egg per cycle, so set up a steady supply of ingredients or breeding will stall. Assign a Pal with the Kindling skill to the pot so cooking runs on autopilot.

Three of the five ingredients come from Pals on a Ranch (unlocked at level 5): Mozzarina produces Milk, Chikipi lays Eggs, and Beegarde (or Cinnamoth) gives Honey. Assign them to the ranch and the resources pile up on their own.

Flour is milled from wheat: grow Wheat on a plantation and grind 3 Wheat into 1 Flour at the Mill (unlocked at level 15). Red Berries are easiest to gather around the starting area, or grow them on a berry plot.

Breeding isn't only about new species — it's how you build a perfect fighter or worker with the passive skills you want. A baby randomly inherits 1 to 4 passives from the combined pool of both parents, and may roll a couple of random ones on top. Tip: keep no more than 4 useful passives across the parents so the odds of passing exactly those stay high.

To lock in a rare passive, breed in a chain: move the trait onto intermediate Pals first, then onto your target. A classic starter goal is to breed Anubis for its top-tier handiwork.
