Best Combat Pals in Palworld: the Strongest Fighters Ranked
Updated: 2026-07-07
Who are the best combat Pals in Palworld
The best combat Pals in Palworld are the legendary elite: Jetragon, Necromus and Paladius, the icy Frostallion with its dark form Frostallion Noct, the fiery Blazamut and its dragon variant Blazamut Ryu, plus Shadowbeak and the water dragon Jormuntide. They hold the S-tier on raw combat stats — the sum of attack, HP and defense. Most of them are legendary Pals or unique boss forms with top-end base stats.
That is your top of the strongest fighters at max level, but the roster is only a starting point. Our combat tier list ranks every Pal objectively from in-game numbers rather than opinion — lean on it, and always mind the enemy's element.
The combat S-tier: what each Pal is for
Leading the charge is Jetragon: the best flying mount with long-range meteor projectiles, perfect for farming bosses from the air and crossing the map in seconds. Beside it stand the heavy nukers Blazamut Ryu and Blazamut, boasting some of the highest attack in the game.
The legendary duo Necromus and Paladius plays off each other: Necromus deals more damage, while Paladius is the toughest body in the game with top defense — the ideal tank. Frostallion Noct is the most balanced fighter overall and our number one in the combat ranking, with high attack, HP and defense at once.
For air superiority take Shadowbeak, a powerful dark flyer, and against fire enemies the water dragon Jormuntide is a must. Most of these Pals also have alternate forms — compare their stats right on each Pal's page.
Element counters beat raw stats
Damage in Palworld hinges on elements: hitting the right counter noticeably boosts your attack and cuts incoming damage. So a B-tier Pal of the correct element often outperforms an off-element S-tier fighter. Keep the element chart handy to see who beats whom.
Counters in short: against dragons (including an enemy Jetragon) bring ice — Frostallion. Against dark, bring a dragon: Jetragon, Astegon or Orserk. Against neutral use dark (Necromus, Shadowbeak); against fire, water (Jormuntide); against water, electric (Grizzbolt and Orserk again); against electric, ground (Anubis); against grass and ice, fire (Blazamut).
Pals against bosses and raids
Bosses and tower bosses are the real exam for a combat Pal. Open the enemy's page under Bosses: it lists its element, weakness and a ready-made list of counter Pals. Pick a fighter whose element beats the boss, keep your Pal healed, and stay at range behind a ranged attacker. Many bosses hit an area, so survivability matters as much as damage.
A league of their own are the altar raid bosses: Bellanoir and Xenolord. Dragons (Jetragon, Blazamut Ryu) shred the dark Bellanoir, and her dark form Bellanoir Libero is one of the strongest fighters if you earn her as a reward. Early and mid game, Anubis carries you: ground counters electric, and it is also the best handiwork worker.
Where to get and how to power up a fighter
You catch the legendaries as field and tower bosses: Jetragon roams the volcanic southwest, Frostallion the frozen north, the Paladius/Necromus pair the desert (Paladius by day, Necromus by night), while Blazamut and its dragon form come from the Feybreak region. Some strong fighters are easier to hatch — check breeding (for example, how to get Anubis).
The best spheres and dropping the target to low HP make legendaries catchable — estimate your odds in the capture calculator. Then level up (see the experience curves), slot combat passives for attack and boss damage, and boost your Pal with the Statue of Power. With solid leveling and the right element, even an A-tier Pal comfortably catches up to the S-tier.
